Miura Boiler

Miura Boiler

Miura Boiler was founded in 1927 and has grown into one of the largest industrial steam boiler manufacturers in the world. The company has consistently led in the development of technology that reduces oil and gas consumption and conserves natural resources. At BEECO, we install Miura boilers in food processing plants throughout Southern California — and we see measurable energy cost reductions every time.

Miura's proprietary once-through watertube design delivers increased in-service efficiency, world-class reliability, and an industry-leading safety record. Every unit is fully packaged and test-fired at the factory before shipment, and all models are built to meet or exceed UL, c-UL, and ASME standards.

Miura LX Series — Low NOx On-Demand Steam Boiler

Miura LX Series — Gas-fired, low NOx, low and high pressure steam boilers available in 50–300 BHP. Natural gas or propane. UL and c-UL listed.

The LX Series is Miura's flagship industrial steam boiler — available in low, standard, and high-pressure configurations ranging from 50 to 300 BHP. It runs on natural gas or propane and is engineered around Miura's exclusive low water content, once-through watertube design. The result: on-demand steam, a minimal footprint, and fuel savings that outperform conventional firetube boilers by a wide margin.

LX Series Key Features

Full Steam Output in Under 5 Minutes

The LX Series produces full-output steam from a cold start in less than 5 minutes. Standard firetube boilers require 1 to 1.5 hours of warm-up. Miura's floating header design — where the upper header is attached to the lower header only by the tubes, allowing both to float as tubes expand and contract — eliminates thermal shock and makes rapid startup possible. For food processing operations with variable production schedules, this translates directly into fuel savings and operational flexibility.

Low NOx Emissions

The LX Series reaches NOx levels as low as 5 ppm NOx at 3% corrected O₂. This exceeds current and proposed regulatory standards, including California SCAQMD requirements. An ultra-low NOx model (9 ppm) is available with certification. Miura's advanced combustion system is designed to help facilities stay ahead of tightening environmental regulations — a key consideration for food processors in the South Coast Air Basin.

Compact Footprint — 50% Less Floor Space

The LX Series occupies 50% less floor space than a comparable firetube boiler and requires no tube-pull clearance. The zero-side-clearance design cuts boiler room construction costs and allows capacity to be doubled in the same square footage. The compact LX-50 model fits through a standard doorway — no wall demolition required for installation.

Modular MI System Scalability

Miura boilers are designed to operate as part of a Multiple Installation (MI) System. Units automatically turn on and off based on facility steam demand, so no boiler sits in idle consuming fuel. Capacity scales up or down by adding or removing units. Maintenance and annual inspections are performed one unit at a time — production never has to shut down for servicing.

Early Warning Scale Monitor

All Miura LX models include a thermocouple attached directly to a boiler tube. If scale begins to form from improperly treated feedwater, the boiler alerts the operator immediately — before efficiency loss or equipment damage occurs. Even an eggshell-thin layer of scale causes a 10% efficiency loss. Miura's early warning system allows the issue to be traced and corrected before costs compound.

Unbeatable In-Service Efficiency

Miura's computer-aided design delivers fuel-to-steam efficiencies of 85–87% using the built-in energy recovery and water treatment systems. In actual use, Miura boilers average 10–40% fuel savings over standard firetube designs — and save up to 20% on CO₂ emissions. The compact design also minimizes radiation losses, adding to overall system efficiency.

Watertube Design — How It Works

The LX Series consists of rows of vertical tubes sandwiched between two rectangular headers. Both headers are encased in castable refractory, with only the tubes exposed to flame and combustion gases. The upper header connects to the lower header through the tubes alone — as the tubes expand and contract with heat cycles, the headers float accordingly. This floating header concept eliminates the thermal stress and leaky-tube problems common in firetube and bent watertube designs, and allows the use of cold feedwater without risk of thermal shock.

Why BEECO Installs Miura

Food processing plants run steam-intensive operations — cooking, pasteurizing, CIP systems, retorts. Miura's on-demand startup and modular scalability fit the variable load profiles of food plants better than oversized firetube boilers sitting on standby. BEECO has installed Miura systems in plants throughout the Inland Empire and greater Los Angeles area. We handle engineering, installation, and commissioning — and we know what it takes to meet SCAQMD low-NOx requirements in Southern California.
